The black whip of extinction is a non-guaranteed one-handed artifact weapon. It has every type of slaying that appears on other items. In addition to its listed slaying powers, it also slays animals. It appears as a whip when unidentified, but can be distinguished from normal whips by its color in ASCII.
Desirability
It is one of the best weapons in the game. While its base damage is low, it is guaranteed to score critical hits against almost all of the monsters in the game. It also benefits from the superior bonuses of the whip weapon skill.
Guaranteed/Common sources
It can be granted as a precrowning gift or a reward for making use of a potion of uselessness, generated in a surge of power or greater vault, or generated as random loot (albeit very rarely).
