The ratling rebel is a monster of ratling type. (S)he is located in the Arena in the chaos caves. (S)he is against the fights in the arena and if chatted to will hand the PC a pamphlet. Should he/she give it back to the ratling, (s)he will turn hostile.

If PC wears light furs or thick furs speaking with rebel will squeek ("Ye animal sssllayer! Sssuffer!") and potentially temporary blind the PC (per description via spraying some strange potion).

If the PC has the Moon Sickle (or any other artifact containing the essence of chaos; but the sickle doesn't corrupt from just being carried), he is quite useful—any potions the sickle is dipped into turn into potions of raw chaos, which can be used on the pamhplet to produce a scroll with there never being an explosion.

If the PC speaks with the ratling rebel after killing the the arena master, their alignment will shift towards neutral and the ratling will reward them with a scroll of peace.

Note that attempting to give the ratling rebel any items seems to turn him/her hostile. Confusingly enough, this even happens when the PC tries to give him/her food when (s)he complains that (s)he is hungry.

Special abilities[]

None

Common stats[]

Level: 2, DV: 19, PV: 4, Hits: 17, Attacks: 1, Damage: 2-7, Speed: 100.

Corpse effects[]

Eating the ratling rebel results in a small alignment drop, but doesn't cause non-orcish or non-trollish PCs to vomit like eating most other rats does.

Monster memory[]

Male

A former fighter, he has turned his cloak and now belongs to the green faction. He strongly opposes all cruelty to animals and will probably try to dissuade you from fighting in the arena. But his thin voice is usually drowned by the ecstatic cries of a large crowd. If you want to be nice to him, go and read one of his pamphlets.

Female

She is shocked by the horrid habits of the people round here: they watch innocent creatures getting slaughtered, and laugh as the defeated bleed to death. Still, she remains unperturbed by the joy and the madness, for she's found a purpose for her life. She hands out her hand-written pamphlets and attempts to talk some sense into people, but her thin voice can hardly be heard in the din the bloodthirsty crowd causes.
