Fire beetle is a type of monster in ADOM. Fire beetles are surprisingly hardy insects, and can prove difficult to damage in melee for weak PCs around the start of the game. They, unsurprisingly, are immune to fire, but do not possess any special attacks (fiery or otherwise). Unlike other creatures with "fire" in their name, they are not particularly vulnerable to cold attacks.

Corpse effects[]
Eating a fire beetle has a 50% chance of granting the PC intrinsic fire resistance.
Note that the message "You suddenly feel very hot!" is generated whenever a fire beetle is eaten, whether or not fire resistance has been gained; the only certain ways of knowing if the PC has received fire resistance from eating one is by the effects of a potion of insight or Revelation.
Monster memory[]
This dark red insect is a regular hazard for those who venture into the earth. Steam rises from within its rock-hard carapace. Its infernal temperament makes it quick to anger, although it may be relatively complacent after feeding on a hapless adventurer.
