Helms of mental stability are a rare type of headgear in ADOM. When worn, they grant a source of confusion resistance and a minor Learning boost.
Helms of mental stability appear as crystal helmets when unidentified.

Helms of mental stability are relatively powerful items, combining physical defensive capabilities (which can be further improved using scrolls of defense/protection) with magical protection indispensable against powerful spellcasting monsters.
While Learning boost is usually minor (+1 is the default value), it can be useful to get an extra skill increase at level-up or slightly improve spellbook reading efficiency.
