Halberds are one of the basic two-handed melee weapons in ADOM. They belong to the Polearms weapon group, and benefit and train the corresponding weapon skill.

Iron halberds have typical melee stats of (+4, 2d7+1), while eternium halberds have typical melee stats of (+11, 4d7+8). All halberds decrease DV by 2 while worn.

Desirability[]

In terms of damage stats, halberds rank between two-handed swords and large hammers. They are powerful weapons, though wielding them denies the PC the benefits of wearing a shield and thus leaves them more open to monster attacks than they would be with a weapon and shield alternative. They can still get some DV bonuses from the Polearms class, though, and after a few weapon skill levels, wielding a halberd does not decrease the PC's DV as much as wielding most other two-handed weapons would.

Guaranteed/Common Sources[]

They can be found as random loot. At least one halberd is usually generated in Darkforge, and it is possible to find one (of any metal) along with other two-handed weapons in the Small Cave.
