Figurines of wondrous power are special tools that can be "U"sed to create a monster.
If a blessed figurine is used, the created monster will be a companion to the player. Uncursed creates neutral monsters, and cursed figurine creates hostile monsters. Figurines can be created for every monster type in the game, the exception being unique monsters (Eternal guardian, Andor Drakon,etc).
Desirability[]
Somewhat useful, as they can provide free companion. If you happen to have figurine of blink dog, it can result in teleport control. Similarly bringing figurine of ice producing monster might help to deal with piranha lake.
Guaranteed/Common sources[]
Random loot. It is possible (though extremely rare) to find a random shop selling only figurines of power. Monster type is connected to dungeon DL, presumably they do not drop randomly before DL:11, although low DL shops can appear.

When used in melee combat it grants a -8 bonus to hit and causes 4d4 points of damage. When used as a missile it grants a -8 bonus to hit and causes 3d4+1 points of damage.
Tests[]
Ascyron did some tests to determine what limits there are on what figurines can be created in what DL areas.
- The first batch of Ascyron's tests can be found at Figurines/Testing1.
- These four tests show three things: first, that there is definitely a DL system when wishing for figurines. Second, it shows that there is no difference in what figurines are generated for different level characters - all figures are well within the margin for error for a test of this size. And third, the results appear to correlate well with the list of monsters you would typically find on these dungeon levels.
- These tests pave the way for larger scale testing in more areas to determine what figurines can be generated in what areas of the game, which will give at least an idea of Monster DLs. Although the in game monster generation seems to follow different rules (uses character level in addition to dungeon DL).
