Flails are one of the basic types of melee weapons in ADOM. They are one-handed weapons, despite their unusually large weight (which in most cases is roughly 1.5 times that of two-handed swords, halberds and long spears of the same metals). They belong to the Maces and Flails weapon group, and benefit from and train the corresponding weapon skill.
Desirability[]
Flails are quite powerful weapons, being the second-most powerful generic one-handed weapons behind large hammers. Non-eternium flails are rather unsuitable for two weapon combat, but are heavy enough to benefit from the Basher talent line. Gaining weapon marks with flails is also quite useful since although there are no artifact flails or flails with natural prefixes or suffixes, they share a weapon class with maces which includes powerful weapons like Big Punch and maces of destruction.

They can be obtained in the same manner as all generic loot. There are no guaranteed sources of flails during the game, though Priests of most races have a chance of starting out with an iron flail (or a mithril flail for mist elves).
