Glod, the dwarven smith is a unique NPC found in Dwarftown. He will offer to teach the Smithing skill to PCs that don't have it, for a price ranging from about 4,250 gp to 60,000 gp depending on certain factors, most notably race and Cursed/Doomed status. He will also offer to remove rust from and/or fix an item in the backpack, for a price depending on the type of the item and the job to be done (removing rust is usually cheap, but mending isn't). If the PC uses his forge for smithing, he will charge them 2,500 gp.
PCs that have to face him after turning Dwarftown hostile, or that willingly take him on to forcibly stop his demands for using his forge, should beware of his multiple penetrating attacks; maximizing the PC's DV rather than their PV is crucial when taking him on melee. He also resists fire, and drops an anvil and eternium warhammer when killed.
Note that whilst it is possible to wish for further dwarven smiths, wishing for "Glod" results in a baffled small dwarf named Glod appearing instead. This appears to be a reference to Terry Pratchet's "Discworld": where a deity meant to put a curse on a character that made everything he touched turn to gold, but instead he turned everything he touched into dwarves named Glod.

Monster memory
Even more stocky and powerfully built than the average dwarven citizen, he seems to be in a constant hurry as he deftly moves from task to task. With the dwarves' great love of mining and metalworking, there is no lack of things for him to do, but he is more than happy to lay them aside and help out a potential hero... if the price is right.
