Halberds are one of the basic two-handed melee weapons in ADOM. They belong to the Polearms weapon group, and benefit and train the corresponding weapon skill.

Like a number of other types of weapon, halberds can be made of four different metals. Iron halberds have typical melee stats of (+4, 2d7+1), while eternium halberds have typical melee stats of (+11, 4d7+8). All halberds decrease DV by 2 while worn.

DesirabilityEdit

In terms of damage stats, halberds rank between two-handed swords and large hammers. They are powerful weapons, though wielding them denies the PC the benefits of wearing a shield and thus leaves them more open to monster attacks than they would be with a weapon and shield alternative. They can still get some DV bonuses from the Polearms class, though; after a few weapon skill levels wielding a halberd does not decrease the PC's DV as much as wielding most other two-handed weapons would.

Guaranteed/Common SourcesEdit

They can be found as random loot. At least one halberd seems to be guaranteed in Darkforge, and it is possible to find one (of any metal) along with other two-handed weapons in the Small Cave.
