|Kalmius' Shield ( ( )|
The twisted quarterstaff "Kalmius' Shield" is a non-guaranteed two-handed artifact weapon. It provides substantial DV and willpower bonuses, useful resistances, and increases the amount of PP regenerated per tick by 1. It appears as a quarterstaff when unidentified, making it indistinguishable from normal wooden quarterstaves.
It is a very useful item for spellcasters, effectively doubling the rate of PP regeneration in the absence of other item or class bonuses (which do stack with the staff's bonus). It has enough defensive bonuses to compensate for the lack of a shield, but it only deals mediocre damage as a melee weapon.
It can be granted as a precrowning gift or a reward for making use of a potion of uselessness, generated in a surge of power or greater vault, or generated as random loot (albeit very rarely).
