Plate mail is one of the basic types of body armor in ADOM. It consists of a coat of chain mail with some number of embedded plates for added protection. It comes in 5 varieties based on the material from which it is made.

DesirabilityEdit

Plate mail provides the best protection among ADOM basic armor types (ring, scale, chain, splint, plate) and is rivaled only by full plate armor added in version 1.2.0. Naturally, it is heavier than other basic types of armor, although the difference becomes marginal for higher metals.

Guaranteed/Common SourcesEdit

They can be obtained in the same manner as all generic loot. Eternium plate mail is relatively often dropped by chaos warriors which can be met in wilderness encounters starting from character level 25. A number of these monsters can also be found on D:50 guarding the Chaos Gate. Typically a PC who has just cleaned D:50 from monsters will have 5-10 sets of armor which can be generated with a (powerful) prefix and/or a suffix.
