In this quest, Sharad-Waador, the ancient karmic wyrm wants the ancient blue wyrm, Srraxxarrakex killed. He will award the PC with the artifact dagger Needle, as well as a large stack of items of varying value.

RequirementsEdit

Once accepted, the PC must begin the quest immediately or be attacked by Sharad-Waador.

Description and walkthroughEdit

Sharad-Waador is a neutral ancient karmic wyrm standing next to a staircase on the 4th level of the Unreal Caves. Upon standing on the stairs and 'C'hatting with him, he will ask the PC to immediately descend into the Blue Dragon Caves and kill his arch-rival Srraxxarrakex. The Blue Dragon Caves consist of a series of cavernous levels populated by large numbers of blue dragons of increasing difficulty, as well as other monsters appropriate to the danger level. The lowest level will feature a huge number of blue dragons of all types, numerous great blue wyrms, as well as Srraxxarrakex, the ancient blue wyrm, who can be recognized by his (curious) purple color. All blue dragons use lightning, so some form of resistance--if not immunity--is strongly recommended.

Srraxxarrakex is not an extremely difficult opponent by the point in the game most PCs reach him: he has high health and decent PV, but his offensive strength is fairly limited, and he rarely enters into a dangerous raged state. Once Srraxxarrakex is slain, the PC simply needs to return to Sharad-Waador to complete the quest.

Note that once the PC accepts the quest, Sharad-Waador will attack the PC if he leaves the staircase. If Sharad-Waador is hostile or neutral the quest cannot be completed – luckily Calm Monster works. It is possible to leave items on the staircase to avoid damaging them by dragon breath.
