Short swords are one of the basic weapons in ADOM. In versions 1.1.1 and earlier, only iron-based short swords existed of base stats (+0, 1d6); mithril, adamantium and eternium short swords were added in 1.2.0.
Desirability
Short swords are useful until better weapons are found; though they rank as the weakest type of weapon in the Swords category. Broadswords, long swords and scimitars of the same metals are superior in terms of damage. Their light weight makes them useful for two weapon combat, though, but not as much so as rapiers or sabres.
Guaranteed/Common Sources
They can be found as random loot, or can be wished for. There are no guaranteed sources of any short swords.
