Effectiveness vs mental stability[]

"clear mind rings count for 10 willpower points for purposes of resisting confusion, whereas mental stability rings count as 5 willpower points."

Could you share the testing methods and data that led to this conclusion? This did not seem to be the case for my tests:
Versus master lich confusion, 100 confusion attempts for each category

20 Willpower 71% resist
20 Willpower + Clear mind 77% resist
20 Willpower + Mental stability 81% resist
25 Willpower 81% resist
30 Willpower 93% resist

Different status maybe? According to sorear wiki all -conf tuff is equal at +6Wi, my experience is that mental stability is better than clear mindSoirana (talk) 23:24, June 8, 2017 (UTC)

Initial test was with uncursed rings. Blessed clear mind was 84%, cursed clear mind was 83%. Doesn't seem to be strong evidence that status matters or that clear mind is any different from mental stability. Yulgash (talk) 03:26, June 9, 2017 (UTC)
My edit was based not around the odds of succumbing to confusion but the requirements for achieving total immunity.
Willpower 40 + 2 clear minds or willpower 50 + 2 mental stability/1 clear mind or willpower 55 + 1 mental stability -> immune to minotaur mage and emperor lich confusion.

Furthermore, the thresholds for some enemy types:
Skeletal king: 25
Wyrm: 30
Emperor lich and minotaur mage: 60
Not tested others yet.

With 40 willpower and two rings of either type of ring, emperor lich failed to confuse me 100/100 times. Minotaur mage was able to confuse me with 40 willpower and two rings of either type. I think your results are a matter of not doing enough tests - verifying that a particular configuration gives close to total immunity would take an enormous number of tests. I realized that I've been testing on darknight (which gives C spellcasting monsters a power boost). Retesting minotaur mage on a normal day gave 100/100 resists with 40 willpower and two rings of either type (according to you I should be getting confused with the mental stability rings). Got 500/500 resists with 40 willpower and only one ring of either type (according to you I should be getting confused with either singleton ring). Granted, even this might not be total immunity, but combined with the fact that emperor lich and minotaur mage confusion powers are definitely different, I don't have much faith in your tests. Okay, one final nail in the coffin. Tested 35 willpower + 1 clear mind vs minotaur mage and got 91/100 resists. According to the theory, 35 willpower + 1 clear mind = 40 willpower + 1 mental stability. But the mental stability configuration got 500/500 resists.Yulgash (talk) 03:02, June 11, 2017 (UTC)
Now i'm the one who's confused.  I spent several hours testing it to reproduce the effects over and over again because I wanted to be absolutely sure, but this was a year ago, perhaps things have changed across versions (although I doubt it).  I'll do some testing tomorrow and see what happens.
also what R/C did you use for testing?  And did you perform the tests against the exact same monster spawn?  Just trying to rule out variables.

Tested with a level 1 candle-born drakeling barbarian. Lich tests were with multiple different monsters. Minotaur mage tests were with the same monster. Keep in mind that the game starts on darknight. Yulgash (talk) 22:33, June 11, 2017 (UTC)
