Wands of item detection are wands that, when "z"apped, reveal the location of all items on the level for one turn.
Desirability[]
Not crucial, but informative, and can be very helpful in the very early game as detecting the location of the wand of teleportation on the VDDL is one of the ways to obtain it in a timely manner. Later, this will find some use on greater vaults, to be able to determine (from the shape and location of the items within the vault) whether there is a chance of a good artifacts being found instead of less useful ones.
They may also be used to detect the location of dungeon shops or the weapon and armor rooms on Darkforge, if need be.
