Warhammer is one of the generic types of one-handed weapons in ADOM. Warhammers belong to the Clubs and Hammers weapon group, and benefit and train the corresponding weapon skill.
Desirability[]
Since wielding a one-handed hammer is one of the requirements for using the smithing skill, PCs that wish to use it will want to acquire either a warhammer or a large hammer. They do not rate too well as weapons, however; whilst they are better than daggers or short swords that PCs might start out with, they are less powerful than many other weapon types e.g. scimitars, broadswords and battle axes. Also, there are not many useful weapons that benefit from marks gained in the Clubs & Hammers class, besides higher metal large hammers or Skullcrusher (should the PC find it).
Guaranteed/Common Sources[]
They can be obtained in the same manner as all generic loot. Weaponsmiths of many races start out with an iron warhammer, and a wicked mithril warhammer is available to Weaponsmiths as their heir gift. The dwarven smiths Glod and Kherab each carry an eternium warhammer, which they will give to the PC under one condition: over their dead body.
