Whips are one of the basic types of Weapon in ADOM. They have default stats of (-4, 1d3), making them worse than the PC's bare fist - but whips are the only means of melee combat that uses Dexterity instead of Strength to determine melee damage.
As well as being used as a weapon, whips can be equipped in the tool slot and "u"sed to raise the players alignment. This does cause damage, so be careful.
Desirability[]
Due to their low damage, they are not very useful as a weapon, except for very dextrous, very weak characters in a somewhat bizarre set of circumstances. They might still find use for self-flagellation, though alignment is more commonly increased to lawful using an amulet of order.
Guaranteed/Common sources[]
They can be obtained in the same manner as all generic loot. Goblin slavemasters may drop one when killed.
